A Justice Society of America Masterpost!!
∟from volume 2 era and materials surrounding it on.

What is the JSA? Well you can read more on comic vine or dc wikia, but I’ll attempt to do it in short form! Post-crisis (the original crisis), the JSA are the heroes of our heroes, the ones they grew up looking up to or hearing about— and they’re still around!! Due to constant de-aging and being stuck in limbo dimensions and all sorts of things you expect from heroes. But the point is they are here! And what is left of them wants to help with the new generation and raise them to be heroes side by side! The JSA is a family, about respecting each other, legacy, the past, the present, and continuing to the future. And what a legacy the new generation brings!!

I am including everything from volume 2 era specifically, because this is the specific volume that, to me, is essential reading!. Also supplementary materials to each of the characters that would be, in my opinion, very helpful. I do adore every era of JSA, but this masterpost is specifically for the new generation that only surfaced upon this era and on!! A wonderful cast full of amazing characters!!

(Aka without including some issues, you’d wonder why the Golden Age Flash just grabs some child off the street and says it’s time to be a hero.)

Prior reading materials!

JSA v2 (1-7) (8-15) (16-23) (24-29) (30-32) (33-35) (36-37) (38-40) (41-45) (46-49) (50-52) (53-56 + Hawkman tie-ins) (57-59 + Hawkman tie-ins) (60-64) (65-67) (68-71) (72-75) (76-80) (81-83) (84-87)

Various other supplementary materials!

  • JSA Secret Files and Origins - The first is to be read before issue 1 of the series and issue 2 is to be read after issue 27.
  • JLA/JSA Vice and Virtue - To be read around issue 25, the JSA/JLA’s first attempt at a thanksgiving together.
  • JSA All-Stars v1 (1-4) (5-8) - Set at some time during v2, goes into the legacies of each character and what it means to them! And then a short story of the original holder of the title.
  • JSA Classified (5-7)(8-9) - This was a series set at various times of JSA history involving certain members! The overall series varied in quality as a whole.

As any series, it is not perfect, but volume 2, as a whole, is a solid volume for me that has made an important impact on my life!! And I hope others can enjoy it too!!

*I would highly recommend if you like this volume and want to get more cues to check Infinity Inc.!! If you like the original NTT this is definitely worth checking out!
**This masterpost should continue to be available and if there are any problems with the links, feel free to message my ask box!
***small warnings for #suicide mentions via Kendra, which is not handled v. delicately which I can’t really blame ‘the times’, early 2000’s should have been better about it! There’s other violence that comes w/ superhero comics, sometimes rly extreme on Black Adam’s part!!
